SFJ lures Punjab students with iPhone 12 for raising pro-Khalistan flags on Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary

Banned, blasphemous and anti-national propagandist organisation ‘Sikh For Justice’ has released an insidious video just a week before the 36th death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, urging students to raise pro-Khalistan slogans in return for iPhone 12 mobile phones.

Even as the National Investigation Agency intensifies its crackdown on separatist elements/terroritsts/radicals in Punjab, the renewed attempt is being made by the banned outfit that is now trying to rope in youngsters into its movement by offering them the newly-launched phone if they raise slogans in support of Khalistan on October 31.

The address by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the General Counsel to SFJ, has raised a serious concern over the measures being taken to counter the Khalistan movement.

“To commemmorate the 36th martyrdom year of Beant Singh, the assassin of Indira Gandhi, the secessionist group Sikh For Justice gave a call to the students to raise Khalistan flag in schools, colleges and universities in Punjab on October 31. SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun offered the students free iPhone 12 Mini with pre-installed Punjab Referendum apps and VPN to safely connect with SFJ’s Voter Registration database circumventing the Ministry of Home Affairs’ ban,” the SFJ said in a statement.

The MHA on July 5 blocked access to 40 websites launched by SFJ for voter registration of people living in Punjab, and also removed the Voter Registration app from Google Play Store.

Earlier, pro-Khalistan flags were hoisted in different parts of Punjab and Indian flags were desecrated, following which security agencies launched a massive crackdown, including the arrests of two terrorists belonging to the Khalistan Zindabad force in August.

Earlier, the SFJ had issued a cash reward up to $500,000 just before India’s Independence Day if someone hoisted the Khalistan flag from the Red Fort.

Small cash rewards of up to ?50,000 were also offered if Khalistan sympathisers managed to hoist Khalistani flags at administration blocks in Punjab, with money being transferred via Western Union Money Transfer facility.

The NIA has taken cognisance of such inciting literature and provocation, and has initiated a countrywide manhunt to weed out such terrorists who attempt to compromise the sovereignty, honour and integrity of India.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated on 31 October 1984 at her official residence by her Sikh bodyguard Satwant Singh and Beant Singh following the Operation Blue Star, a military action against armed militants of the Sikh Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale movement at the Holy Golden Temple in Amritsar in June 1984.

Beant Singh was shot to death during his interrogation while under custody shortly after the assassination.
