“No amount of denial can hide the truth of Pakistan’s support to terrorism,” says MEA

No amount of denial can hide the truth of Pakistan’s support to terrorism, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday, a day after Islamabad criticised the Indo-US joint statement which had references to cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

“The whole world knows truth about Pakistan’s role in supporting terrorism,” MEA Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said at a media briefing. Srivastava said the country that provides shelter to “maximum number of UN-proscribed terrorists” should not even attempt to play the victim card.

“Even their leaders have time and again spoken about their role with regard to terrorism,” he said.

In their joint statement, India and the US had strongly condemned the cross-border terrorism in all its forms and asked Pakistan to take “immediate, sustained and irreversible” action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for launching terror attacks.

Interestingly, the MEA’s reaction came on a day when a senior Pakistani minister admitted that his country was responsible for the Pulwama terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 that killed 40 CRPF personnel and brought the two countries to the brink of a war.

“We hit India in their home. Our success in Pulwama, is a success of this nation under the leadership of Imran Khan. You and us are all part of that success,” Science & Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry said.

Soon after a video clip of Chaudhary’s statements went viral, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched an attack on former Congress president Rahul Gandhi who had last year insinuated that the Pulwama terror attack was a stage-managed attack perpetrated by the BJP government.
