Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman, Kailasavadivoo Sivan on Saturday said that the organisation is working on the Chandrayan mission. “We are working on the moon mission and will be able to tell soon when we would launch the mission soon,” Sivan said at the sidelines of the 69th North Eastern Council plenary meeting here in Meghalaya.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had chaired the plenary meet, which was attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight Northeastern States.
Sivan also informed that ISRO’s have a lot of useful data that can be used by the Northeastern states.
“ISRO is coordinating with the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) to share the data which can be used by the Northeastern states meaningfully,” he said, adding that the government in the respective states can also utilize the resources available with the NESAC.
NESAC has earlier said that it can provide real time satellite data to provide an operational remote sensing and geographic information system aided natural resource information base to support activities on development / management of natural resources and infrastructure planning in the region.
The Centre, which is a joint initiative of Department of Space (DOS) and the North Eastern Council (NEC), also provides operational satellite communication applications services in the region in education, health care, disaster management support, and developmental communication.
