Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan confirmed at his government is under pressure to recognize Israel, insisting that Islamabad would never establish relations with the “Zionists”. The recent recognition of Israel by the UAE and Bahrain has resulted in diplomatic economic relations with Tel Aviv, while many other Arab countries are also considering the normalization of relations with Israel.
Khan in a recent interview with a private television feared that recognizing Israel without any settlement of the Palestine issue, that satisfies all Palestine people could mean a compromise on its own Kashmir Policy, which his government never plans to do. Khan reiterated that the founding father of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azad Muhammad Ali Jinnah had refused to recognize Israel, adding: “Islamabad would continue to follow in Jinnah’s footsteps vis-a-vis Palestine.”
Pakistan always has tried to equate the Palestine issue with the Kashmir border dispute with India at International forums as a major Muslim cause that needs joint unity among all Islamic nations. Khan’s candid admission confirms why Islamic countries especially Arab countries are no longer making statements against India on Kashmir and the majority of them have refused to condemn India or take an aggressive stand on Kashmir as per the Pakistani narrative of late.
With Oil Money running out fast in the Arab Peninsula, many Oil Rich countries are fast-moving away from Islamic radicalization Hotspots and don’t want to be seen as supporters and financiers of Jihad factories else were in name of Muslim brotherhood due to which free flow of funding to countries like Pakistan have dried up of late.
Pakistan for the last two decade as used Nuclear blackmail in the region to get Kashmir settled as per its plans but off late it has rather backfired big on them since now many countries recognize that putting pressure on India military or economically might lead to a border conflict that can quickly escalate into Nuclear exchange after New Delhi demonstrated off late its resolve to hit back at Pakistan terror launch pads in case of terror attacks backed by Pakistan on its troops.
Diplomatic recognition of Israel in the Arab world means that Pakistan’s space at Muslim Ummah is now sinking at a faster rate thanks to Khan cozying up with Turkey at cost of age-old friendship with Arab countries. While Islamabad has been getting Turkey’s backing in its English Press and on its narrative on Kashmir against India, many don’t see that it will have any effect on India at the same level if it was done by Arab countries that have large Indian ex-pats working in these countries and has bigger trade relationships.
Sidelining of Palestine issue by Arab countries means so-called Kashmir cause for Pakistan waits same fate and Kashmir dispute is already on the back burner for many countries and a non-issue for others and Islamabad might be fearing that soon Arab world will side with Indian narrative on Kashmir and will ask Pakistan to settle the matter as per what Americans lobby for long wanted, that to convert current Line of Control (LOC) into International border thus ending long-standing border dispute and also ending Pakistan sponsored terrorism in Kashmir and its regular interferences.
