BSF foils infiltration bid by 5 Pakistan terrorists along international border in J&K’s Samba

SOURCE: INDIA TODAY

Early Sunday, the BSF foiled another major infiltration bid from the Pakistan side in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir. BSF troops noticed movement of a group of five heavily-armed terrorists on the Pakistan side of the International Border (IB) in Samba. This was the second attempt made by a terrorist group in a month to infiltrate through the Samba sector.

On noticing their movement, the troops fired on the terrorists, under cover fire provided by the Pakistani Rangers, however, they managed to escape.

Earlier, the Army foiled an infiltration attempt in North Kashmir’s Gurez sector. There has been a spurt in incidents of airdropping of weapons by drones and smuggling of narcotics along the IB and LoC amid frequent ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few weeks.

Recently, the Indian Army has deployed more than 3,000 additional troops on the Line of Control (LoC) to prevent infiltration attempts by Pakistan-backed terror organisations. The additional troops have been deployed primarily in the Kashmir region of the LoC to stop infiltration attempts, top government sources had told India Today TV.

Sources said the additional troops have been successful in foiling almost all major infiltration attempts and terrorists have been stopped from crossing over.
